Image: The image shows the designer’s partner posing on a wooden bridge covered in lichen. The man, who is white and sporting glasses and a dashing ginger beard, stands with his hands in his khaki pockets, his legs astride at shoulder width. He is wearing a multicolored sweater with a colorwork yoke design in a multitude of colors, ranging from reddish brown, grayish brown, and ivory. He looks straight at the camera with a faint smile on his face.

Image: The image shows an East Asian woman leaning against a lichen-covered wooden bridge. She faces away from the camera, looking slightly towards her right. Her black, purple, and faded bleached hair contrasts against the sweater she is wearing over her ecru linen dress. Like her partner’s, her colorwork sweater is knit up in a variety of shades of brown, but her sweater is much more cropped.

27 Sweater

Named after the average donation to Senator Bernie Sanders’s presidential campaign, the 27 Sweater is my adaptation of the iconic colorwork mittens he wore to the 2021 Presidential Inauguration. Inspired by his dedication to social justice causes and grassroots approach, 50% of all proceeds from pattern sales until the end of August 2021 will go towards Hotels For Homeless, a local mutual aid fund that provides vital, temporary housing for the unhoused.
